April: What to Plant in Your Garden Right Now in Tennessee
We are on the upswing in Tennessee! Spring is finally here, and warmer temperates are on our radar.
Are you new to gardening and overwhelmed by the schedule of when to plant your favorite vegetables and gardens?
We make it easy! Each month, we publish your monthly to do list along with what to plant during the month.
What to Plant in Your Tennessee Garden During April:
- Tomatoes
- Peppers
- Squash
- Cucumbers
- Beans
- Corn
- Lettuce and other salad greens
- Carrots, radishes, and beets
- Strawberries
- Blueberries
- Apples, peaches, and other fruit trees
- Herbs
- Marigolds, zinnias, cosmos, and other warm-season flowers
- Perennial flowers
May we also suggest putting in a wildflower garden for the pollinators! These are easy to create and offer multiple benefits. The seed packets are pretty cheap, and you will love the variety of colors.
Be sure to note: Tennessee is very temperamental. One day it could be 30 and the next 70 degrees. It’s best to wait until first of April or mid-April to totally avoid frost (although cold days can and have happened in April).
If you are planting this month or last, you can always purchase frost blankets or something to cover plants in case we do experience another freeze.
